Historians Meeting during the Erice Workshop: Ideas, Problems, Interests

Historians dealing with earthquakes in some of the following ways or manners:

• collecting historical data, or/and
• assessing seismologists, or/and
• doing historical seismology as such, and/or
• doing historical disaster research,
• or mainly historical earthquake research

met for lunch and exchanged some ideas, problems, interests, and have two main proposals:

1. Create an earthquake (and maybe a natural hazards) iconographic catalogue.

This catalogue will begin with the icons that the countries represented by the historians who attended this workshop will send to someone (still not designed).
Seismologists dealing with history are invited to participate in this initiative.

2. Create a database with selected bibliography for historical seismology, published during the last 10 years.

The selection should include:

• bibliography for historical seismology
• published during the last 10 years
• not catalogues
• case histories and other historical studies.
