Includes basic seismological knowledge and macro-seismic observations from the 6th century BC. century when Seismology was born in this area together with Philosophy. Chapters 1 to 9 develop the basic seismological issues related to the Greek area, which has the highest seismicity in all of western Eurasia. In 10 a brief description of the macro-seismic results is given and the basic parameters of all known strong earthquakes (M≥6,0) that took place in Greece from 550 BC are given. until today. The book is unique for the fact that in each chapter it includes the basic bibliography on the seismological problems of the country where scientific thought was born.
The book is the result of research and educational experience of more than four decades of the first authors and hard work to collect and process relevant historical information during the last two decades of the second authors.
